Call from outside the School District but using District Numbers

The following instructions steps you through the process to create a call so that the receiver sees the USD405 phone number 620-257-5196 instead of your personal number.

The following information is needed before you can use this function.

  1. An Assigned passcode. By default you are not assigned one. If you want to use this function shoot me a quick e-mail and I will setup the required 4 digit passcode and send it back to you.
  2. Your Extension. Without this your call and passcode combination cannot be used.
  3. Your Long distance TOL passcode. (this is your assigned three digit passcode that can be obtained from the district office)
  4. The number you wish to dial. Remember if it is not a local number  you will need the  TOL passcode to complete the call.

    Explanation:

Why so many steps just to make the call?

The main reason for this setup is to prevent just anyone from the outside calling in to call anywhere in the world under USD405’s identification. The passcode to make the call secures the process along with your extension. Although this is a few more steps to complete it ensures that USD405 doesn’t incur additional long distance charges or other embarrassing issues by calls being sent out with the caller ID showing USD405’ phone number listed. Think about all the robo-calls you tend to get. This helps ensure we don’t get into trouble using this process.

    Additional Information:

Currently the limitation of this system is to allow only 4 calls of this type to occur. The setup ties up 8 phone line channels out of the school districts 24 channel PRI setup. We could add more with some additional equipment but this was setup with equipment I already had saving a few dollars in equipment costs. This also ensures that if calls are being made with this feature, the rest of the schools can continue to function without callers getting busy signals or employees in district having fast busy signals when attempting to call.
