Phone System Procedures

How to use the current phone system to make local and long distance phone calls.

When calling 911 from any district phone the caller can use either 911 or 9911 as a viable option.
Note: If you call 911 by accident, stay on the line and explain the error to the 911 dispatch personnel. It is also helpful to contact the building secretary to let them know of the error in case 911 dispatch calls back to verify that information.

The school system has moved its phone lines over to a new service from AT&T to MTC. A few changes on how things will work are now in effect.

Dialing a number no longer requires the 8 before dialing. Pick up a line and dial the number. The following prefix are now considered local calls.
257
509
680
278
904
938
897
204
894

All long distance calls will still need to have an access code as done before. The process of dialing is the same as above with the exception of dialing the 1 + <Area Code> + <Number>. A quick "Beep Beep" then another dial tone is presented. This is the signal for the access code. Dial the 3 digit access code and the # to finish the call. If you do not have an access code please contact the district office for one to be assigned to you. No Auto-Attendant will ask for the access code.

Another major change to how you deal with calls is the once you place the call on hold you will need to remember the 3 digit extension number to get that call back. They will be a 633, 634 ext. type extension. You will see this displayed when the call comes in at the far left side of the display phone on the bottom row. If you place the call on hold and want to have someone else pick it up you will call the extension you want the call picked up on and tell them the extension of the incoming call, 633 for example. If you by chance have a non display phone and which to transfer the call over your only option is toe press the TRAN button and dial the extension you want the called transfered to. This can also be done on the display phones as needed.
